“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” – Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

Just imagine – we are God’s masterpiece! Some translations use the word “handiwork” or “workmanship.” No matter which word is chosen, the fact is, God created us.

God. Created. Us.

God planned us. Penned us. Painted us. Sculpted us.

Wow!

The Greek word translated as masterpiece, handiwork or workmanship is POIEMA, which means “what has been made.” This word is also used to describe works of art and is the root of our English word, POEM.

We – new creatures, Christians – are the Poetry of God!

The verse continues with two more great thoughts – we’re to do good things, and He made plans for us long ago.

To sum it up:

  1. We’re the Poetry of God – His masterpiece
  2. We’ve been made new creatures through Christ
  3. We can do good things
  4. God has big plans for us

I’ve selected Ephesians 2:10 to be the “life verse” of Marketing for Christians Writers in order to:

  • inspire us to create our own masterpieces
  • be grateful for our new life and hope in Christ
  • do good things with our writing
  • seek to follow God’s plans for our lives
